Little Twinkles Take Centre Stage

the very busy spider cover

Last term our two Little Twinkles groups performed their very first show 'The Very Busy Spider' by Eric Carle.

This is a tale of an ambitious spider who spins a very enormous web. The spider is far too busy to play with any of the animals that visit.

The web serves its purpose catching a delicious fly and by nightfall, the spider falls asleep just as the owls swoop by to admire the glorious web.

The children did an amazing job taking on several roles, each managing costumes (see the last picture below) and thinking carefully about how each animal moved and sounded.

We explored using our very strong voices so the audience could hear our speech and we worked hard on making eye contact when speaking with other characters on stage.

The children also performed a short poem and rhyme, both with actions and in unison.

For most this was their first time in front of an audience and they should be so proud as they did a fabulous job!

We were also very fortunate to have our older students helping with costumes and with narrating the play.Thank you for your help, you were all amazing too, showing great confidence and leadership!
